Why Centrist Policies Are Not The Answer
2000: Al Gore lost as a centrist candidate
2004: John Kerry lost as a centrist candidate
2008: Obama won posturing as a progressive, moved right once elected
2016: Hillary lost as a centrist candidate
Centrist Democrats vote against the people they are elected to represent. Here is a list of the ways centrists have betrayed their voters and helped Republicans achieve their agenda
January, 2020: The Democratic Party is supposed to be against needless wars. This stance is especially important when a dangerous president like Trump is in power. Yet, when Trump escalated tensions with Iran by assassinating their top general, the centrist elites had a hard time condemning the unprovoked attack on a foreign leader. Instead they only criticized Trump for doing it without Congress approval. The centrist left have completely forgotten what they are supposed to stand for.
December 19, 2019: Centrist Democrats endorsed three former Republicans in key senate races. These people were very recent Republicans who only switched parties to run. Why is the Democratic leadership propping up Republicans who run as Democrats? This is why our agenda never gets done.

December 12, 2019: Centrist Democrats voted to give Trump funding for his border wall. They voted for the National Defense Authorization Act 2020, which included free rein to wage endless wars, funding for Trump's "Space Force", and a green light to continue fueling the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen. Once again, the only members to vote against it were the progressives, AOC, Ro Khanna, Barbara Lee, Rashida Talib, Ilhan Omar and others voted against it. After the vote, Ro Khanna said "This defense budget is $120 billion more than what Obama left us with. That could fund free public college for every American. It could fund access to high-speed, affordable internet for every American. But it's worse. The bipartisan amendment to stop the war in Yemen: stripped by the White House. The bipartisan amendment to stop the war in Iran: stripped by the White House."
December 11, 2019: Centrist House Democrats laid the groundwork for Trump to assassinate Iran's top general by overwhelmingly passing the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020. Two amendments were stripped from that bill by Nancy Pelosi before it went to a vote. Ro Khanna’s amendment to block funding for a war with Iran barring congressional approval, and Barbara Lee’s amendment to repeal 2001’s AUMF, that gave the government permission to use “necessary and appropriate force” against anyone suspected of being connected to the 9/11 attacks. This policy has been interpreted broadly to justify U.S. aggression around the world. Less than one month after this vote, Trump attacks Iran. The only members who voted against this were progressives like AOC, Ro Khanna, Barbara Lee, Tulsi Gabbard, Rashida Talib, Ilhan Omar etc.
December 11, 2019: One day after impeaching him, the Democratic led House gave President Donald Trump an overwhelming political victory on Trump's renegotiated agreement with Canada and Mexico. Only 38 Democrats, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, voted against giving this gift to Trump.
December 10, 2019: Nancy Pelosi officially announces two articles of impeachment: one for abuse of power and a second for obstruction of Congress. Instead of focusing on the numerous bribes and money laundering, centrist Democrats have narrowly focused on one matter: the Trump-Ukraine scandal and the tale of Donald Trump apparently abusing the office of the president to obtain political dirt that could influence the 2020 election. They had no intention of impeaching him for separating children at the border, obstructing justice (per the Robert Mueller report) by refusing to comply with congressional investigations and ordering staff to do the same. It is interesting that they only decided to impeach Trump when he goes after one of their own (Joe Biden). Deciding to wait this long and then holding the articles from the senate until they promise a long trial is strategic by Pelosi. It hampers the progressives ability to campaign during a crucial time in the primary. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren will be held up in the senate trial, while Biden and Buttigeig will be free to campaign.
December 9, 2019: Nancy Pelosi ADMITS that she knew Bush was lying about weapon of mass destruction, but didn't think it was impeachable. Yes, there is actual video of her admitting this - see below
December 4, 2019: Eight people, including major Hillary Clinton donors and a witness in the Mueller investigation, have been charged in a massive campaign-finance scheme for Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign to “make and conceal conduit and excessive campaign contributions” valued around $3.5 million in the 2016 election campaign.
December 2, 2019: Nancy Pelosi sits on a bill that would strengthen unions. The Protecting the Right to Organize Act would be the most comprehensive rewrite of U.S. labor law in decades. It would eliminate right-to-work laws, impose new penalties on employers who retaliate against union organizing, crack down on worker misclassification, and establish new rules so that employers cannot delay negotiating collective bargaining contracts. The bill already has 215 co-sponsors in the House and 40 in the Senate. It passed the House Committee on Education and Labor on September 25 on a party-line vote. But two months later, Nancy Pelosi had still not brought the bill to the House floor, and has given no indication of when she will.
November 26, 2019: Wisconsin’s Democratic governor, Tony Evers, signs anti-protest bill into law. Peaceful protestors can now be charged with a felony if they trespass on property owned, leased, or operated by companies engaged in the distribution of oil or petroleum.
November 18, 2019: Democratic leadership slip an amendment into the government funding bill to extend the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act is a post-9/11 law that gave the federal government sweeping surveillance and search powers and circumvented traditional law-enforcement rules. The law would have naturally expired, but Democrats extended it just for Trump.
August 29, 2019: Chuck Schumer uses his power to blackball progressives in open primaries for GOP-held seats. Why would Democratic leadership try to stop a fellow Democrat from winning against a Republican?
July, 2019: The Democratic speaker of the House is supposed to bolster House Democrats and hold a Republican President accountable, but Nancy Pelosi decided to slam four of the most vocal and visible freshman House members, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley because they were the only Democrats to oppose a House bill to provide funding for the crisis at the southern border. The four House members put out a statement, saying "in good conscience, we cannot support this supplemental funding bill, which gives even more money to ICE and CBP and continues to support a fundamentally cruel and broken immigration system."
March 27, 2019: Republicans tried to force a vote on the Green New Deal to show the potential splits in the Democratic caucus. Democrats agreed to vote "present" as a sign of unity against this. All Democrats voted present except four: Joe Manchin, Kyrsten Sinema, Doug Jones and Angus King. These centrist Democrats who voted against the Green New Deal also just happen to take hundreds of thousands of dollars from the fossil fuel industry.
October, 2018: Joe Biden gets paid $200,000 to praise republican Fred Upton in the battleground state of Michigan just weeks before November’s midterm elections. Biden’s comments quickly found their way into Republican advertising and the local Democratic Party pleaded with Biden to walk back his comments, which he never did. He also refused to officially endorse the Democratic challenger to Upton. Upton eventually won his reelection bid by 4.5 points.
October, 2018: Chuck Schumer ONCE AGAIN helps Trump & McConnell by fast-tracking 15 more Trump appointees to the federal courts. Schumer claimed it was so that his centrist incumbants could go home and campaign. Schumer could have let his endangered incumbents go home to campaign and still fought the trump appointees by employing senators who are not up for re-election until 2020, but he chose not to.
September, 2018: After bailing out wall street and refusing to prosecute bankers, Obama cashes in with wall street speeches. He has taken money to give "speeches" for Carlyle Group LP, Northern Trust Corp. Cantor Fitzgerald LP and others.
August, 2018: After the controversial confirmation of Kavanaugh, Chuck Schumer reaches agreement with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to fast-track the confirmations of 15 Trump-nominated judicial picks. Seven federal district court judges were confirmed that day, and eight were put on the docket for confirmation next week. Democrats should be taking their responsibility to consider lifetime appointments to our courts more seriously, especially when they are appointed by Trump.
August 20, 2018: Less than two months after environmentalists celebrated the Democratic National Committee (DNC) for banning donations from fossil fuel companies, the DNC passed the Tom Perez resolution effectively reversing the ban on donations from fossil fuel PACs.
May 10, 2018: The Democratic Party pretended to be outraged that Trump has pulled out of the Iran deal, but the Democrats’ previous support for sanctions already violated the Iran deal, whose benefits for the Iranian people were almost entirely premised on relief from devastating sanctions. The ONLY democrat to vote against the sanctions against Iran was Bernie Sanders.
April 13, 2018: Chuck Schumer publicly supports Trump bombing Syria without Congress aprroval, calling it "appropriate" and "it was the right thing to do".
March 22, 2018: Pelosi and House Democrats block veterans’ health care bill
February, 2018: Democrats are so pro-war that they continually approve budget increases for military defense and giving Trump more and more resources to cause havoc in foreign countries. Trump successfully pushed to increase the Defense Department’s budget by 10 percent, to $700 billion, or more than one-third of all federal non-entitlement spending. Chuck Schumer announced, “We fully support President Trump’s Defense Department’s request.” Nancy Pelosi stated in an email to House Democrats: “In our negotiations, Congressional Democrats have been fighting for increases in funding for defense.” WHY? Why are we fighting for yet another increase in defense??
January 23, 2017: Centrist Democrats voted to confirm Mike Pompeo as Trump's CIA director. Pompeo is part of the extreme Christian right who has said "until we make sure that we pray and stand and fight and make sure that we know that Jesus Christ is our savior, is the only true solution for our world". Here are the Democrats that voted for his confirmation: Chuck Schumer, Amy Klobuchar, Joe Manchin, Dianne Feinstein, Tim Kaine, Claire McCaskill, Joe Donnelly, Mark Warner, Jack Reid, Brian Schatz, Sheldon Whitehouse, Jeanne Shaheen, Maggie Hassan and Heidi Heitkamp.
June 24, 2016: Members of the DNC's platform drafting committee voted down a number of measures proposed that would have come out against the contentious Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), fracking, and the Israeli occupation of Palestine. At the same time, proposals to support a carbon tax, Single Payer healthcare, and a $15 minimum wage tied to inflation were also disregarded, staying true to their Corporate donors above all else.
May, 2016: CEO who gouged EpiPen price is daughter of Democratic senator Joe Manchin. When asked for an explanation, Manchin said "We make a point, ever since I've been in this position, and when I was governor, we made a point -- we just didn't get involved. It's so convoluted, I don't understand. To get into something you don't understand and your daughter being in this type of industry -- it was best I stayed away,". What he is really saying here is that he will not condemn this increase because his daughter is involved in the scandal.
August, 2016: Chuck Schumer voted against the Iran Nuclear deal negotiated by Obama in 2015. He said the USA "would be better off without it".
December, 2015: During his campaign in 2007, Obama promised to freeze out lobbyists and nail shut the revolving door. He made this promise a central message in his campaign, saying “The revolving door — the pattern of people going from industry to agency, back to industry — that will be closed in the Obama White House". Instead, he filled his administration with lobbyists.

April 22, 2008: The acceptance of the pro-war stance in the Democratic Party is the result of corruption. Democrats and Republicans make money from war and the panic that a potential war might cause. In an interview with ABC’s Chris Cuomo, Clinton expressed her toughest stance yet on Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the potential threat the country poses to American allies. “If Iran were to launch a nuclear attack on Israel what would our response be?” Clinton said. “I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president, we will attack Iran. That’s what we will do. There is no safe haven. Whatever stage of development they might be in their nuclear weapons program in the next 10 years during which they may foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them,” Clinton said. These comments are extremely reckless and are not the words of someone trying to negotiate peace. Obama even noted at the time "One of the things that we’ve seen over the last several years is a bunch of talk using words like ‘obliterate. It doesn’t actually produce good results. And so I’m not interested in saber rattling.” This stance is what helped get him the nomination.
March, 2005: Schumer was a vociferous supporter of John Bolton’s 2005 nomination to be the U.S. ambassador to the U.N. “A vote against Bolton,” Schumer proclaimed, “was a vote against Israel.” But Bolton was correctly perceived as so dangerously belligerent that even a Republican-led Senate rejected him. Bolton has since called for the U.S. to attack both Iran and North Korea.
